So last weekend was my weekend off, and we crammed enough Fall Festivities into it that I was happy with the results. On Saturday, we headed off to Circle S Farm which is just southwest of Columbus near Darbydale. It was only a 15 minute drive, so not too too bad, and Simon was a little whiny due to his top teeth coming in.
When we arrived at the farm, we parked and strapped Simon into his stroller and headed towards the entrance. It was about a 20 minute wait in line. But once we were in we headed to the hay maze and Simon loved running around in the bales of hay. I, on the other hand, found it incredibly claustrophobic and terrifying when he took off running and I had to crawl on my hands and knees in a panic to find him.
We then ate some fresh donuts RIGHT out of the fryer (so delicious) and Simon kept signing “More more” as we gave him little tastes. We then took him out of the stroller again to get some good pictures. He loved the tractor and the wooden frames to peek through.
This next one is one of my favorite pictures, because I can’t wait to see how tall he is next year, and because he looks so tall in it and isn’t even standing straight up. Such a big boy!
After that big adventure, we picked up a pumpkin and headed home to hopefully get Simon to nap for a minute. Didn’t happen.
So we went off to the park in the evening. Is there anything cuter than a little boy in a puffy vest? I think not.
He was exhausted, and went to bed a little early. And I went over to a friend’s house to watch the Buckeye game- where they lost miserably. HOWEVER- my little sister called me that night to tell me she got engaged! To her boyfriend of…..FOREVER! Yay Sister! Tribute photo to Kimmy below:
At any rate- Sunday we had a good morning with breakfast and then we headed out to Inniswoods Metro Park, one of my favorite parks in Columbus. It is beautiful there all the time, but it was especially beautiful now- with the roses in bloom and the leaves in waves of red and orange. Simon really liked it, and especially liked the mums that were in different areas of the park. He would touch them and make an “ooohhh” noise- very sweet.
Simon’s new favorite thing to say is “‘sat” which we think is “What’s that?” because he says it all the time as he’s pointing to things.
And then we went home and Simon tried his first taste of pumpkin pie. He was definitely a fan.
And Gabe carved our pumpkin with a little help from Simon- who just wanted to wear the bowl we were using to hold pumpkin guts. Luckily he was grossed out by the “guts” and didn’t try putting the hat on when it was full!
Dunkle Bert (Uncle Brett) came over to have some raviolis and spend some time with Simon and spend the night Sunday night, and he got to hang out with us Monday morning before I went into work. Simon just loves Brett and you can tell in this picture that Brett took of him while I was getting ready:
It was one of those weekends where I was sad to go back to work because we had so much fun. This weekend (now) I have to work so it’s going to be a long week, but I’m really looking forward to next weekend off, and trick or treating! Stay tuned…
